On January 5, 2024, Chris VanDenhende and Karl Jones launch their next season of events produced through Studio 66(where Studio 54 meets Rte. 66), with the return of Tulsa’s premiere weekly watch parties of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Season 16 at Rabbit Hole in downtown Tulsa. Having recently completed their fourth year presenting unique community events, dynamic discos, creative fundraisers and engaged arts mentorship for the queer and allied communities of Tulsa, Studio 66 launches the 2024 season with its third iteration of the beloved drag race watch party series with tantalizing food and drink specials at a favorite Blue Dome District destination, Rabbit Hole at 116 S. Elgin Avenue in downtown Tulsa.
Details matter! The weekly event offers free entry to the bar and features a pre-show “Sad Hour” list of drink specials until 7:00 p.m., including $3 single and $5 double mixed drinks and $3 domestic beers. Each week a screening of that season’s episode of the popular reality show starts promptly at 7:30 p.m.! A new offering for Studio 66 events is the Rabbit Hole kitchen, open ‘til 1:30 a.m. on Fridays. Food specials include “Girl Dinner,” comprised of two chicken wings, fried pickles, and a choice of taco for $9 with a combo vodka soda for $5, as well as a weekly Friday Night Burger Night for $6. Additionally, Rabbit Hole will offer a specialty draught cocktail, “The Queen’s Elixir” for $8 every Friday.
Despite the scapegoating onslaught of anti-drag, anti-woman, anti-Trans and queer phobic legislation plaguing the fear-mongering Republican leadership of Oklahoma and the American Midwest, progressive Tulsa, its vibrant queer communities and powerful allies continue to show that drag is one of the many exciting and creative forms of queer artistic and cultural expression that unites America’s diverse Plains region.
Community partners include Black Queer Tulsa, Tulsa Remote and Queer Women's Collective.
