Every 20 seconds, someone is diagnosed with diabetes, a deadly disease that has no cure. Area residents, particularly Philadelphians, who are at an even higher risk for this illness, will come together on October 3, 2009 for Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes presented by Independence Blue Cross. Family, friends and co-workers are invited to join this special 5K fundraising walk. All funds raised from the Step Out Walk are used to prevent and cure diabetes, while also improving the lives of people affected by the disease.
