Spooky Slam: A Bigfoot Poetry Festival Fundraiser
Have an ode to the queer icon that is the Babadook? Tried your hand at a poem that'll send shivers down an audiences' spines with how creepy it is? Wrote a ghazal about how much you despise candy corn? Have a poem where your mental illness is personified as a werewolf? Love all things Halloween and wish the holiday season could be a bit more poetic???
We are excited to announce our first fundraiser for the 2023/24 season - our Halloween Poetry Slam!
This poetry event is a space for poets to bring their spookiest poetry! Any poems that have themes of horror or touch on topics surrounding Halloween are welcome. Or, if you dare, come decked out in a costume and you can share a poem from the POV of who you're dressed as!
This event is taking place at 7:00pm on Wed. October 25th at Experiment PDX. The Halloween Slam is open to all ages. Tickets are $10 for presale and $15 at the door. The show will start with a poetry open mic, followed by a feature from Allie Marini, and then a two round poetry slam! You do NOT have to sign up to attend this event. Folks who want to come and watch are encouraged to do so!
The poetry open mic has 5 slots, where poets can read 1-2 poems in three minutes. The poetry slam has 8 slots, where poets must bring 2 poems that are three minutes or less. Sign up here - https://forms.gle/KUZzSEgMMvddZ4HB9
