Spanish Fantasies: Manuel de Falla and Pascual Gimeno — Marina Bengoa, Piano in Recital
Spanish Fantasies is a lecture recital by pianist Dr. Marina Bengoa Roldán commemorating the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth. The program examines the Spanish and flamenco idioms within Falla’s Fantasia Baetica, supported by historical and cultural context drawn from the composer’s personal archives. Bengoa also highlights a new Spanish piano fantasy composed by Pascual Gimeno in 2021, exploring how the two composers use traditional musical elements in distinct and compelling ways.
