Join the City of Hapeville in celebrating the power of local storytelling with the third installment of the Southern Circuit Independent Film Series. On Friday, November 6, the series will continue with a free screening of “American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez” at Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park.
Produced and directed by David Alvarado, American Pachuco is a feature-length documentary exploring the life and legacy of Luis Valdez, an American playwright, screenwriter, and film director, who helped bring Chicano storytelling from the fields to the film scene with “Zoot Suit” and “La Bamba”, two iconic works that challenge, celebrate and expand America’s story.
The evening begins with a pre-screening reception at 6 p.m., featuring live music from local partners, followed by the film screening at 7 p.m.
