Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra Chorus Auditions

The Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra invites singers to audition for the newly established SASO Chorus, a versatile ensemble dedicated to exploring a broad range of choral repertoire at a high artistic level. Open to all voice parts (SATB), the chorus will provide opportunities to perform everything from a cappella masterworks and folk-inspired selections to major orchestral and operatic repertoire. Under the direction of Robin Lopez-Hanshaw, the SASO Chorus has been created to fill a unique role in Tucson's musical community by offering singers the chance to engage with diverse and challenging music in a welcoming, collaborative environment. The ensemble's inaugural season will include independent choral performances as well as collaborations with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra. Planned repertoire includes music from a variety of musical traditions and cultures, highlighted by performances of Morten Lauridsen's acclaimed *Lux Aeterna* alongside the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra. Singers can also expect to explore a wide range of styles, languages, and musical periods throughout the season, creating a rewarding experience for those who enjoy artistic variety and musical growth. Rehearsals will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:30–9:30 PM beginning in August at Catalyst Collaborative Arts & Maker Space, located in the Tucson Mall. Auditions will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Catalyst. Singers are encouraged to complete an interest form prior to auditioning. Those unable to attend on July 11 may arrange an alternate audition date or time. The audition process is designed to be welcoming while ensuring singers are placed in an environment where they can succeed artistically.
