His talk is entitled “Can We Really Learn from the Past? The Holocaust, History, and the Problem of Memory.”
As modern citizens living in a complex and challenging world, have we really learned from our past? Have history and the ways we remember our shared and/or unique experiences taught us any valuable lessons at all? In the 2025 Solomon-Tenenbaum Lecture, Daniel Mendelsohn will ponder these questions, framed particularly through the lens of Holocaust history.
