Soccer Biopic Screening: Virginie Verrier's Marinette
Marinette is the last screening in our series on French Women Filmmakers here at the Alliance Française, Chicago's home for all things French!
Marinette Pichon has had soccer in her blood since a young age. Raised by a courageous mother who must confront a violent husband, she overcomes difficulties and forges an unwavering determination. While juggling odd jobs and a sports career, she is selected for the French national team and then spotted by a major American club. Marinette then arrives in the United States with her mother, pursuing the dream of becoming the best player in the world.
