Relationships where addiction and high-risk behaviors are present can feel like navigating a minefield. When communication breaks down, harsh words are exchanged, and you feel like you are on the verge of losing your mind, you think there has to be a better way (and there is).
Small changes CAN produce big results for you and your loved one(s) struggling with these tough situations.
In this interactive workshop informed by the CRAFT* approach, we'll help you understand what these changes look like and work with you to develop and improve your communication and collaboration skills with your loved one. You'll learn how to activate recovery in your family and communities and start changing the dynamics in your relationships.
What you will learn:
How to define what substance use is and why behaviors make sense.
How we can live out our own personal values regardless of our circumstances.
How we can set healthy boundaries so that we can respond with compassion.
Actionable solutions that can change your family dynamic right away.
This workshop takes place from 5:30 - 8:00 PM Central Time. Refreshments and a light dinner will be served. The information presented in this workshop is informed by the following evidence-based best practices and treatments: CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
*About CRAFT: Community Reinforcement and Family Training, or CRAFT, is an approach for families who have a loved one struggling with substances, that invites change and assists in moving someone towards seeking help. CRAFT is about learning a different method to communicate with and support your loved one. It’s about taking care of yourself, while also learning how to interact with your loved one in a way that increases the likelihood of making a real change.
