SoulFolk Singer-Songwriter, Community Songleader and Choral Composer Lea Morris travels from Germany to grace us with her amazing music and presence! Lea’s powerful vocals and dynamic guitar work seamlessly weave gospel, jazz, country and R&B throughout her unique versions of original, contemporary, and traditional songs. Her recent compositions have expanded to include looped harmonies, vocal percussion, and improvisation.
Born in Washington, DC to a father who toured the world playing trumpet in a funk band and a mother who dreamed of opera, Lea began to sing in the Baptist church as soon as she could speak. She is returning to her roots by composing harmonic, polyrhythmic multi-layered songs and chants.
Joining Lea are local Singer-Songwriter-Songleaders Debbie Nargi-Brown and Antonina Beyea for this 2-part celebration of song: a Community Song Circle and a Concert. Get ready for a fun and accessible community singing experience with these 3 inspiring artists, with songs taught by ear and heart that welcome all to participate regardless of singing experience. Participants in the Song Circle have the option of performing a song or two with Lea in the Concert!
Come for the Song Circle 11-1, the Concert 2-4, or both! Please bring your own lunch if you're staying for the whole day.
