Shapes and Colors: A Dive into Textile by Lucy Haura
Lucy Haura is a talented high school senior who designs and creates her own clothing. She gravitates towards elegant formalwear that takes beauty in the form of fabric and detailed embellishments.
Lucy has grown up at the beach and is inspired by the ocean and life around her. "My creations have a floaty quality to them, from both their shapes and fabrics, that allow me to mimic the gracefulness of waves and water as they walk down the runway or pose in photos". She also finds great beauty in embroidering, beading or hand sewing little details only noticed by the keenest of eyes.
As the winner of Gulf Coast Artists' Alliance Emerging Artist Competition, Lucy will be September's Featured Artist at St. Pete ArtWorks. Her clothing designs will appear in the front section of the gallery September 3 through 29, and live fashion models will be part of her reception on September 14 from 5 to 9 pm. There will also be refreshments, the artwork of more than 30 additional artists in the gallery, and live music by singer/songwriter and classically trained guitarist Slam Duncan starting at 6 pm.
