Shakespeare & Company: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The renowned Shakespeare & Company of Lenox, MA, presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” one of The Bard’s most delightful, outrageous and comical portrayals of love, mischief and duty. The 90-minute program is a highlight of the company’s week-long residency – now in its 13th year – with students enrolled in HVCC’s Theatre Arts Program that includes a variety of workshops guided by the professional actors. The residency and performance are part of the troupe’s Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare that brings rotating plays to middle and high schools, and other community venues, from February through May each year. Begun in 1982, the touring productions now reach more than 20,000 students, teachers and audience members annually and embody the company’s educational mission to “immerse students in the world of Shakespeare and classical theatre in the most active and engaging ways.” The free, public performance at HVCC is scheduled to coincide with the winter vacation week observed by many K-12 schools in the Capital Region. No reservations or tickets are required to attend.
