Welcomes Embracing Our Differences
On Thursday, June 12 at Senior Friendship Centers, Rainbow Connections, a group dedicated to the needs of LGBTQ+ seniors and allies aged 50 and above, will host Christina Fraser from Embracing Our Differences (EOD).
Guests will view and discuss EOD’s 2025 exhibition and learn about the organization's history of celebrating diversity and inclusion. A banner from the 2025 exhibition has been gifted to Senior Friendship Centers by Embracing Our Differences and will be on display at the Senior Friendship Centers campus. In addition, Rainbow Connections members will have the opportunity to submit their own quotation or artwork for the 2026 exhibition.
Other arts organizations which have presented at Rainbow Connections events include Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, the Asolo Repertory Theatre, the Sarasota Performing Arts Association, Azara Ballet and many more.
Rainbow Connections provides vital social support, combats isolation and promotes well-being for older adults who may have faced discrimination and marginalization throughout their lives. It is a joy-filled, welcoming place to connect with peers and allies, other Senior Friendship Centers programs and services and the Gulf Coast arts community. In addition, Rainbow Connections has increased awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ+ issues within the broader community, promoting a more exclusive environment for everyone.
