Self-Care Instead of Self-Control: Food Nutrition, and Mental Health for Adolescents

Eating is a fundamental part of being human, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy, especially for teens. The journey to a balanced and nourished life for teens starts with understanding the delicate dance between food, nutrition, and mental health. Are you ready to embark on this transformative exploration of how teens relate to food, eating and body image. Help your teen find freedom with food and to expand an understanding of self-care, challenge conventional nutrition beliefs, and discover a more balanced approach to mindful eating, personal health, and mental wellness? We invite you to an insightful discussion, Self-Care Instead of Self-Control: Food, Nutrition and Mental Health for Adolescents, featuring Matt Arnone, MS RD, and Selena Schapp, Psy.D., two leading experts on nutrition and mental health from Beyond Measure. Beyond Measure is a collective of psychologists and dietitians with expertise in the treatment of disordered eating, chronic dieting, and a wide range of mental and physical health needs. Together, Matt and Selena, will explore the connection between food, nutrition, and mental health to discover a healthy middle ground in a society obsessed with extremes. You’ll learn about self-care rather than self-control as a physical and psychological health model to support adolescents. Their discussion will introduce a big-picture approach to nutrition, weight, and health wellness instead of getting stuck on the number that is on one’s scale. Discussion highlights will include: • Health At Every Size ® • Embrace Intuitive Eating • Bust Nutrition Myths • Self-care and more! Come prepared to expand your understanding of self-care, nutrition, and its connection to mental wellness for your teen and individuals of all ages. We believe this event will not only be informative but also serve as a catalyst for positive change in your teen's journey toward a balanced and nourished life.
