Schlachtfest Dance by German American Friendship Club
Schlachtfest or slaughter fest is an old German tradition related to the slaughtering of farm animals in the fall or early winter, when it is cold. This holiday was celebrated in the 19th Century, but died out during WWI. It was reestablished by Ronald Reagan in 1983 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the first German settlers to the colonies.
