Scheherazade: A Thousand and One Nights
Join Hawaii Ballet Theatre this July for “Scheherazade: A Thousand and One Nights”, the tale of one of literature’s most celebrated heroines. Determined to save her kingdom from the wrath of their sultana, clever Scheherazade uses her wits to heal the sultana’s anguish and change her heart. “Scheherazade” weaves together the famous stories of Aladdin, Sinbad the Sailor, and Ali Baba & the 40 Thieves in this emotional tale of courage, sacrifice, and the power of storytelling.
HBT’s gorgeous original adaptation features 80 dancers from around the island, with choreography in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and tap dance by Charlys Ing, Ahnya Chang, Kristin Aune, Christine Yasunaga and Caryn Yee.
