New 4K restoration!
Holly Woodlawn—star of Trash and subject of the new book Love You Madly, Holly Woodlawn: A Walk on the Wild Side with Andy Warhol’s Most Fabulous Superstar by Webster U. alumnus Jeff Copeland—stars in Robert J. Kaplan’s 1972 feature Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers, one of the first feature films with a trans lead. Long thought lost but now found and restored in 4K by the Academy Film Archive, Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers has Holly as a girl from rural Kansas who is trying to make it big in New York City. With Warhol superstar Tally Brown in a supporting role and cameos from Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin.
Restoration courtesy of the Academy Film Archive and the American Genre Film Archive. It is $8 for the general public; $7 for seniors, Webster alumni and students from other schools; $6 for Webster University staff and faculty; $0 for Webster students with proper ID.
