One Model To Bind Them All: Understanding Disease Outbreaks

Understanding how a disease moves through a population often requires both experiments and mathematical models. Using a simple compartmental model where individuals are considered susceptible to the disease, infected with the disease, or recovered from the disease, we can gain insight into how disease transmission is affected by changes in the environment. This simple modeling framework can be used to address questions in a wide variety of systems including disease transmission in humans.
