SAINT LOUIS WIND SYMPHONY CONCERT
Saint Louis Wind Symphony to perform at the Thomas N. Keating Performance Center at
Kirkwood High School on Sunday, November 12 at 3;00 pm.
In a concert titled American Tapestry, the Wind Symphony will perform music by American composers and will feature a wide range of musical styles. Selections to be performed include:PR NOV. 12 Technology featuring the percussion section, Early Light by Carolyn Bremer, King Cotton by John Phillip Sousa, Julie Giroux’s La Mezquita De Córdoba, Juba Dance by Florence Beatrice Price, American Hymnsong Suite by Dwayne Milburn, and Frank Ticheli’s Blue Shades.
Along with Music director Tom Poshak, the concert will include guest conductor Ruben Gomez. Dr. Gomez is the Director of Bands at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and is a candidate for the Associate Conductor position in the Wind Symphony.
The Saint Louis Wind Symphony is a 65-piece adult concert band that includes members from 34 zip codes in the St. Louis area whose primary membership is area band directors and teachers. The Wind Symphony is dedicated to preserving and performing quality wind band music, supporting music education, and commissioning new works.
