Safe Places Seminar: Preventing Targeted Violence and other Threats in Public Spaces
In this seminar you will learn that targeted violence is preventable when communities are equipped with the appropriate tools, training, and resources to intervene before violence occurs. Adopting a community level behavioral threat assessment approach to be able to observe and pro-actively respond to concerning behaviors can prevent tragedies. A review of safety reporting programs will be conducted which will empower those working in organizations to respond appropriately to abnormal and aberrant behaviors exhibited by persons in their spaces.
You will also learn about how you can partner with safety stakeholders in government and the public & private sectors to help increase your security and resilience across a number of other vulnerable fronts. Public-facing businesses and organizations will be especially encouraged to facilitate bystander reporting and be prepared to respond when reports of concern are received, not waiting for direct or specific threats to be made before taking action.
