Rising Valley Project, in partnership with Creative Continuum counseling practice, is proud to host the RVP Art & Wellness Workshop — a unique, small-group experience created to support the mental and emotional wellness of Phoenix youth through creativity.
This one-day event, happening Friday, July 19 at Phoenix Center for the Arts, is open to children ages 8–12 and led by two highly skilled, licensed art therapists: Marina Doering (ATR-BC, LPC) and Shannon Killpack (LAC, ATR-P). Both Marina and Shannon are practicing clinicians with Creative Continuum, a respected counseling practice based here in Phoenix, Arizona.
At its core, this is a fun, hands-on art class designed to engage children in a meaningful creative process. But at its fullest potential, this experience offers something much deeper: a chance for your child to be guided by professionals trained in art therapy, in a space built for expression, confidence-building, and emotional growth.
Each child will walk away not just with their own Crayola Kit (generously provided by the Crayola Experience), but with personalized tools and techniques rooted in the field of art therapy — tools they can use at home to relax their mind, process big feelings, and explore their own creativity in a healthy, constructive way.
This event is part of Rising Valley Project’s Mental Health Initiative, which is focused on bringing unique, culturally relevant, and affordable mental health resources to youth in Phoenix — particularly in communities that often go without access to such care. Our goal is to help families discover supportive tools outside of traditional therapy models, and to show children that creativity can be a lifelong companion in taking care of their mental health.
We’ve intentionally limited the workshop to just 15 participants so that each child receives a more personal and impactful experience. The cost is just $15 per child thanks to our community partners and sponsors, keeping this resource accessible while ensuring that licensed professionals lead the experience.
While this is not a therapy session, it is deeply informed by therapeutic practice. Through guided art activities, gentle instruction, and positive group engagement, your child will be supported in a way that empowers them to express emotions, connect with peers, and leave with a stronger sense of self.
If you're a parent looking for something enriching, creative, and meaningful for your child this summer — something that can positively shape how they navigate life and emotion — this workshop was built with you in mind.
