Rupert Wates in Concert at The Shepherd Center
Award-winning singer-songwriter Rupert Wates combines unforgettable songs with virtuoso guitar playing. His music is folk, tinged with jazz and classical. It bears the impression of his English roots as well as his years in New York City and on the road in the U.S. By turns witty, erudite and moving, his songs go straight to the heart.
Wates has won over 50 songwriting and performance awards. He was a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Song contest, and Emerging Artist at Falconridge Folk Festival. In 2013 and 2016, he was voted ‘Artist of the Year’ by the Listening Room Network.
He has released 12 solo albums, with tracks played on radio worldwide. More than 30 of his songs have been covered by other artists, including two full-length tribute albums recorded by independent artists in Nashville and Los Angeles.
