"Rollin On the River" - A Celebration of Water-Themed Music at First Folk Sunday on October 5
Westport, Ct – To sing the song “Sailing” by songwriter Christopher Cross was a request made to Suzanne Sheridan from one of the audience members at First Folk Sunday, the Westport-based music series that happens the first Sunday of the month at the Saugatuck Rowing Club. The noted audience member just happened to have sailed the world three times in his own sailboat, twice with his wife and once with his wife and their two sons. Not only will Suzanne Sheridan be fulfilling his request to perform “Sailing” at the next First Folk Sunday concert on October 5, but she will also be joined by musicians Bob Cooper on keyboards, Tim DeHuff on lead guitar, and Matt Livigni on bass. The result of their collaboration is “Rollin on the River,” a celebration of the timeless connection between music and water.
Returning to her homebase at First Folk Sunday following her sold-out “Mostly Ronstadt” Levitt Pavilion concert, Sheridan will be singing songs that focus on the importance of water and the spirituality that water represents. With the town of Westport being surrounded by water, rowers, and sailors, “Rollin on the River” has found the perfect home at the Saugatuck Rowing Club.
Suzanne Sheridan, long a Westport musical icon, will be headlining the remaining three concerts for First Folk Sunday, a series that began in 2023 and which immediately became a Westport monthly favorite. Audiences quickly discovered that a Sunday afternoon spent riverside with music, food, and libation at the Saugatuck Rowing Club is as close to idyllic as anyone can get.
In addition to the purchase of a ticket, the culinary team at Saugatuck Rowing Club offers a First Folk Sunday brunch menu at each show. There are three remaining First Folk Sunday concerts scheduled for 2025. All shows begin at 12:30 and doors open at noon.
