Repair Cafe & Canaan Days

The Canaan Repair Cafe will offer comprehensive repair services provided by local volunteer "fixers," including: General repair • Hand sewing • Framing • Gardening consultation • Knitting • Gluing • Darning • Machine sewing • Knife sharpening • Welding • Woodwork • Bicycle repair • 3D printing "We're thrilled to bring the Repair Cafe to Canaan as part of their wonderful Canaan Day tradition," said Becky Meier of Canaan. "Having local Canaan volunteers leading most of the repair services really strengthens the community connection, and adding 3D printing capabilities opens up exciting new possibilities for saving items that might otherwise end up in landfills. It’s a celebration of community spirit and practical problem-solving all in one.” The addition of 3D printing represents a significant advancement for the Columbia NE Repair Cafe, a collaboration of Climate Smart Communities including Austerlitz, Chatham, New Lebanon, Canaan, and the Village of East Nassau. These grassroots events do more than just keep items out of landfills—they foster meaningful connections between neighbors, bringing together diverse skills to solve everyday problems while strengthening community bonds. As with all Repair Cafe events, services are free and open to all, with a two-item limit per person. Visitors are reminded that clothing or textiles to be mended must be clean. ** Parking at Town Garage with shuttle service to the venue. (rain date- June 15th 1-4pm) For more information about what items can be repaired, find the Columbia NE Repair Cafe on Facebook or email [email protected]. About Columbia NE Repair Cafe: The Columbia NE Repair Cafe is part of the global Repair Cafe movement that began in the Netherlands in 2009. These community events bring together volunteer fixers who share their skills and knowledge to help neighbors repair broken household items instead
