Red · The Fired Arts are Hot — Running through December 31

Red. A color with paradoxical symbolism, representing both good and evil — from love, wealth and status to danger and sin. Chinese potters of the Ming Dynasty created red-glazed porcelains, and European ceramic artists strove to emulate the rare, lustrous copper glazes — often called oxblood or Sang de Boeuf — in the early 1900s. Royal Doulton, Ruskin and Moorcroft experimented with high-temperature firings in oxygen-starved kilns, a dramatic process known as flambé (French for “flames”). Get fired up and ignite your journey by visiting the Red-Fired Arts Are Hot! exhibition at the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA). Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts 3250 North 29th Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33020 10 minutes south of Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport Open: 10 am to 4 pm • Tuesday to Saturday Free Parking • Wheelchair Accessible www.wmoda.com • [email protected] • 954.376.6690
