Quilts by Men & Necktie Quilts Exhibits at Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum

Men’s Exhibit | Quilts Made by Men in the Main Gallery: RMQM’s Men’s Call for Entry exhibit is the 17th exhibit of quilts made by men since opening in 1990. This biennial tradition lives on as visitors love seeing quilts made by men! In recent years, we have been delighted that our call for entry in the men’s challenge has included quilters as young as eight and nine years old, some of which have gotten their quilting start at RMQM’s Kids Kamp or with the guidance of a grandparent. This year's Call for Entry challenge encourages quilters to express their talents through the range of colors and design patterns that show off their favorite techniques, passion for the art of quilting, and provides a glimpse into the quilters’ creative expression. We are excited to not only welcome back many of the previous quilters in past men’s exhibits, but are equally thrilled to have new men quilters join us for their first exhibit with RMQM. A special addition to this year’s exhibit will be a quilt by each of our certified jurors: Scott Murkin and Christine Brown. Christine Copenhaver Solo Exhibit | Necktie Quilts in the Northeast Gallery: Christine’s educational history includes degrees in science and a PhD in Biology/Ecology as well as a Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in costume design. Years later, she saw a little evening bag made of a single silk tie in a gift shop. She bought a tie and went home and made a little purse. She eventually began making quilts out of neckties. A number of people wanted to know how she created these quilts, so she wrote a book, Necktie Quilts Reinvented.
