Join us for a special pop-up projection mapping event on Thursday, March 9, 2023, beginning at 6:30pm at Cranbrook Art Museum’s Peristyle and grounds.
The ongoing series by Visiting Artist Motomichi Nakamura is inspired by Shinto, the native animistic religion of Japan that is based on the idea that everything in the world including humans is part of a single unified creation and all things in nature are inhabited by spirits.
By using mobile projection mapping technology, animated “Red Eyes” images are projected onto ordinary outdoor structures or objects, and they are given life as mysterious monsters. The artist hopes to bring special attention to what’s always been around us and appreciate things in our everyday life.
This pop-up is organized in collaboration with Cranbrook Academy of Art’s 4D Design Department and Cranbrook Art Museum.
