POW/MIA/9-11 27th Annual Ceremony
ATTLEBORO, Mass. — The Attleboro Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 115 will host its 27th Annual POW/MIA & 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans Triangle in Capron Park, Attleboro. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
The annual remembrance honors American prisoners of war, those who remain missing in action, and the victims and heroes of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The event serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by our nation's service members and the commitment to ensuring they are never forgotten.
"Never Forget" is more than a phrase—it is a promise to the men and women who served our country and to the families who continue to await answers.
John Bouchard, a former U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran, past Commander of VFW Post 115 and American Legion Post 20, and co-chair of the POW/MIA Committee, has spent years advocating for America's missing service members and their families.
"We do this work for the families and loved ones of combat veterans who are still missing after all these years," said Bouchard. "We're very aware that their families continue to hope and pray for the day they can finally bring them home."
Bouchard also hopes the United States will continue supporting overseas recovery missions to locate, recover, and identify missing American service members. He notes that 39 Massachusetts service members from the Vietnam War remain listed as missing in action, underscoring the importance of keeping their stories alive and maintaining public awareness.
The ceremony offers the community an opportunity to stand together in remembrance, honor the sacrifices of those who served, and express support for veterans and the families of those who never returned home.
Veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders, civic leaders, community organizations, and members of the public are encouraged to attend this meaningful annual tradition.
