POWER OF FATHERHOOD BREAKFAST
Hammond, IN -- Eric V. Harwell is calling all MEN to gather for the POWER OF FATHERHOOD BREAKFAST. This life-changing free event for boys and men of all ages will take place on Saturday, March 16, at 9:30AM at the Ophelia Steen Community Center at 5927 Columbia Ave, Hammond, IN, 46320.
Harwell, better known as "The Counselor," is a clinical mental health therapist with a private practice and leader of “The Counselor is in…with Eric V. Harwell" Family of Groups and Classes. He currently hosts a weekly radio broadcast on Mondays at 6:30PM CST on WYCA Rejoice 102.3FM in Hammond, IN.
Harwell is inviting men from Northwest Indiana, Chicagoland, Kankakee, and Peoria to join this fellowship and community event of men inspiring men. Marvin O. Nunn will be the keynote speaker. Nunn is pastor of Dayspring Ministries Church of God In Christ in Hammond, IN, who holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and an honorary doctorate in Biblical Studies.
“The focus and the goal of men coming together is to create a new culture for our children,” says Harwell. “These gatherings are to put together as an action plan to help curve miseducation and violence in our communities by developing our youth."
He continues, "Many young men don't have fathers. We aim to provide them with mentors and offer them help they would not normally get if they were left to themselves. Our mission is to have men come together in these types of gatherings with a multitude of resources for boys and young men who need assistance."
The hard fact is that 90% of children runaways are from fatherless homes. Fatherless children are more likely to end up in poverty or drop out of school, become addicted to drugs, have a child out of wedlock, or end up in prison. 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes, while 85% of children who exhibit behavior disorders are from fatherless homes. Therefore, the future strength of the community hinges on our ability to actively restore fatherhood to the community. The Power of Fatherhood Breakfast will provide resources, mentorship and a community of male leaders ready to engage for young men in need.
