John Singer Sargent was the leading portraitist of the Gilded Age. He made his sitters fit to be seen, selecting settings, pose, and often their clothing, manipulating fashion to create not just a likeness, but a work of art. Please join us for this illustrated lecture wherein Dr. Hirshler will explore what it meant to be styled by Sargent.
Tickets are $20 and available on the Redwood Library & Athenæum website. We kindly ask that you register and purchase your tickets online in advance.
