Pops Concert and Strawberry Festival - Philharmonic Society of Arlington
The evening will begin with our Strawberry and Ice Cream Festival held in the Gardens beside the Town Hall from 6:00 – 7:30 PM (weather permitting) with entertainment by Davey the Clown and Liberty Bones Brass Ensemble. The concert will begin indoors at 7:30 PM, and will also be live-streamed and recorded by Arlington Cable (ACMi) TV www.acmi.tv/publive or YouTube.com/@acmiTv/streams
This year’s Pops Concert theme is “Celebrating Arlington250”. The Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Orlando Cela, will feature the suite from “Hamilton” by Lin-Manuel Miranda, selections from William Grant Still’s “Afro-American Symphony”, and a special performance of Aaron Copland’s “Our Town”, featuring readings about Arlington by local poets in the foreground. The Arlington-Belmont Chorale, conducted by Stephanie Beatrice, will perform a variety of works with themes of local history, liberty and universal freedoms. The orchestra and chorale will join together to perform Andre Thomas’s “I Dream a World” with lyrics by Langston Hughes. As is the tradition of Pops, the evening will end with “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.
Tickets: Strawberries and ice cream $5. Concert: Table seats on the floor $20, balcony seats $10 for adults and $5 for children. Live-stream viewing is free but donations are gratefully accepted on our website.
Wheelchair accessible. Masking optional. Wrapped snacks and beverages will be available for sale during the concert; there is also a water filling station in the Town Hall lobby and we encourage attendees to bring refillable water bottles.
The Philharmonic Society of Arlington (PSA), is a 501(c)3 non-profit community organization. This concert is supported in part by a generous grant from the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture, a local agency under the umbrella of the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
