Pops Concert and Strawberry Festival- Philharmonic Society of Arlington

The evening will begin with our Strawberry and Ice Cream Festival held in the Gardens beside the Town Hall from 6:00 – 7:30 PM (weather permitting) with entertainment by Davey the Clown and the Liberty Bones Brass Ensemble. The concert begins at 7:30 PM with the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Orlando Cela, performing the “Blue Danube Waltzes” by Strauss, the Mexican dance music “Huapango” by Moncayo, and a medley from “Chicago”. The Arlington-Belmont Chorale, conducted by Barry Singer and accompanied by pianist Michael Becker, will first present a small selection of choral folk songs from various traditions, then present a tribute to Duke Ellington, performing music by Ellington as well as the Stevie Wonder song “The Duke”. The Chorale and the Orchestra will combine to present “Galaxy Song” from the movie “Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life” in an original arrangement written and orchestrated by conductor Barry Singer. As is the tradition of Pops, the evening will end with “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa. Tickets: Strawberries and ice cream $5. Concert: Table seats on the floor $20, balcony seats $10 for adults and $5 for children. For tickets, please contact the Philharmonic box office at: 781-234-8377. Tickets may also be purchased at the door (reserved tickets for tables recommended). Wheelchair accessible. Masking optional. Beverages will be available for sale during the concert; there is also a water filling station in the Town Hall lobby and we encourage attendees to bring refillable water bottles. The Philharmonic Society of Arlington (PSA), a 501(c)3 non-profit community organization, has been supported this year in part by the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture, a local agency under the umbrella of the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
