This month, the Poetry Salon will feature the works of Adam Zagajewski. Born in Lwow, Poland (now Lviv, Ukraine), Zagajewski has been recognized internationally for his poetry and won numerous awards and honors. Critics note that things seen, heard or remembered in his poetry have the same power for him as things evoked by the imagination. His best poems succeed in making the space of the imagination connect with experience. Many cherish his poem "Try To Praise The Mutilated World" which became famous when it was printed in The New Yorker shortly after the September 11 attacks.
Please join Claire Keyes, Professor Emerita at Salem State, for this discussion of Zagajewski’s poems. Registration is required to attend in person or via Zoom. Please register at tinyurl.com/Adam-Z-Poetry. If registering for Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting online.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of Abbot Public Library.
