POESÍA EN ABRIL 2024: “LAZOS”

April 18 - 21, 2024
DePaul University and contratiempo in association with Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, and The Poetry Foundation, invites everyone to the XVI edition of the most important poetry festival in Spanish in the Midwest: POESÍA EN ABRIL 2024.
This year the festival features guest poets from Latin America, Spain, and Chicago poets from various Latinx communities.
The winner of the prestigious Juana Goergen Poetry Award will be announced during the festival, along with literary dialogues, workshops, and poetry readings with the community. The theme for POESÍA EN ABRIL this year is "LAZOS" [Bonds], acknowledging the importance of our bonds andseekingconnections through language and art.
The festival runs from April 18 to 21, 2024, in different venues throughout the city of Chicago such as DePaul University, the Poetry Foundation, Instituto Cervantes, and Co-Prosperity.
❖ Thursday, April 18 at DePaul University 5:30PM: Inauguration and Poetry Reading by international, US and local Chicago poets / McGowan South 105 – 1110 W. Belden Ave, Chicago, IL 60614 / Music by local artist Vivian García
❖ Friday, April 19 at Co-Prosperity Sphere 6PM: Poetry Reading in the Community by international, US and local Chicago poets / 3219 S. Morgan St., Chicago, IL 60608 / Music by local artist AlgoRitmo
❖ Saturday, April 20 at The Poetry Foundation 2PM: Encuentro de poetas: Dialogue, connections, and poetry reading in the community / 61 West Superior Street, Chicago, IL 60654
❖ Saturday, April 20 at Instituto Cervantes 6PM: Tributes & Awards / Premio Poesía Juana Goergen [Juana Goergen Poetry Award] will be announced / Tribute to poets / 31 W Ohio St, Chicago, IL 60654 / Music by local artist Vivian García

POESÍA EN ABRIL is an international festival organized annually since 2008 by DePaul University and contratiempo cultural organization, in association with Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, and The Poetry Foundation.
