PL IN ATX – Posters by Polish Artist - Patrycja Longawa | OPENING
A collection of 30 posters by an award-winning Polish designer, Patrycja Longawa, will be shown from October 26 until November 30, 2023, at Austin’s largest contemporary art gallery, AO5 Gallery in the Arboretum. The opening night on October 26, 2023, will celebrate the inventiveness and beauty of the unique artistic phenomenon: the world-renowned Polish School of Posters.
Longawa’s exhibition is the partner event to the Austin Polish Film Festival (APFF), which will kick off a week after the poster show’s opening. Longawa is the author of the official APFF 2023 poster.
The AO5 exhibition will include posters she designed for American and European films, music, visual art events, and more. It is worth mentioning that the AO5 Gallery holds a collection of vintage Polish posters by the masters of the genre. In the period after WWII, till the collapse of communism in Poland in 1989, the most famous artists associated with the Polish School of Posters were men. Patrycja Longawa, whose work will be presented this Fall in Austin, is a young Polish female artist who continues the tradition of uniqueness and excellence in this design genre.
