Pianist Andrew Armstrong & violinist Abigél Králik continue Danbury Concert Assoc. ‘24-‘25 season
The Danbury Concert Association’s 2024/25 series continues on Sunday, October 20 at 3 p.m.when pianist Andrew Armstrong, a frequent DCA collaborator, will be joined by “rising star” violinist Abigél Králik on stage at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Western Connecticut State University campus.
The program will include Edward Elgar’s beautiful Violin Sonata, George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Rhapsody No 1 for violin and piano by Béla Bartók, Romanian Folk Dances for piano by Bartók , and Three Visions by William Grant Still. The virtuosic works Aucassin et Nicolette and Tambourin Chinois by Fritz Kreisler will be the final delights.
Andrew Armstrong is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician hailed for his “dazzling clarity, confidence, and passionate expression.” He has appeared throughout the U.S. and internationally, including at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, London’s Wigmore Hall, and the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, among others. He also serves as artistic director of several music series including New Canaan Chamber Music, which he founded in 2020.
Abigél Králik is quickly gaining attention as a “shooting star in the truest sense of the word” (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk Kultur). The only musician on the Forbes 2020 “30 under 30” list for Hungary, her musical journey has taken her around the world and includes performances with the Mexico City Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, and Casco Philharmonic in Belgium..

All DCA performances take place at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the west side campus of WCSU in Danbury, CT, with in-the-round, open seating for up to 350.
The series will continue with soprano Kathryn Lewek and tenor Zach Borichevsky—making their DCA debut—on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 3 p.m.; and the acclaimed Essex Septet on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 3 p.m.
