Pedals for Progress/Sewing for Peace Collection at the Watchung Farmers Market on Tuesday October 29th 3-7pm
Oct 29 is the last day of the Watchung Farmer Market 2024 season. P4P will be there 3pm to 7pm collecting adult & kids’ bikes and sewing machines to send to Togo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Belize and Guatemala.
P4P is an amazing organization that rescues used bikes that would otherwise end in American landfill and ships them to people who need them desperately for basic transportation. They also adapt them ingeniously for use as trash haulers, produce trucks, taxis, and farm machinery. Read more about them at P4P.org
A donation of $20 per item is suggested to help offset shipping costs overseas.
All material and monetary donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided on site.
Bikes should be rust free. No children’s trikes, but bikes with flat tires in need of some repair are accepted. Portable sewing machines should be in working condition.
So come to the Watchung Farmers market (at the Best Lake parking lot, just off the Watchung Circle on Valley Road at the end of Hillcrest Road)) on October 29 and get fresh vegetable and fruit and many other goodies and drop off that bike or sewing machine that you’ve been meaning to donate.
