Parkinson's Together Symposium
On Saturday, April 1st from 9a-1:30p, in the Tangeman University Center Great Hall at the University of Cincinnati, Parkinson's Together is holding a symposium to bridge the gap between the medical community and those who want to support patients but don't know how or where to start. It will feature renowned-physician and researcher keynotes, free lunch, and a research showcase where any student (undergraduates who have never done a research poster, experienced grad students, medical students) will have the opportunity to present a poster. This event will act as a hub for anyone interested in medicine to network with students from multiple schools, physicians, patients, and community organizations. Additionally, students who attend can find volunteer opportunities through the Cincinnati Ballet, Parkinson's Community Fitness, and InReturn (a facility that helps survivors with Traumatic Brain Injury back into the workforce) to work directly with patients, and the attendees who participate in the research showcase can add the experience to their CV.
This event is a great opportunity for patients and community organizations as well. The purpose of this event is to inform attendees about the current status of Parkinson's disease knowledge in the field and the multitude of care options for patients to engage in and for students to volunteer in located in our community. As such, this symposium will act as a way for patients to learn about community organizations that they may not have heard of that will help them with their condition outside of the clinic. Community organizations will be able to spread awareness about the work they do and increase volunteers to help with their operations
