“Pacific Panoramas” by Julia Munger Seelos Visions of California’s Stunning Meeting of Land and Sea Viewpoints Gallery is proud to present our April featured artist exhibition, “Pacific Panoramas” by Julia Munger Seelos. This collection features striking oil paintings that depict visions of California’s magnificent cliffs, crashing waves and headlands. In bold brushstrokes of vivid color, Julia captures the dramatic power and stunning beauty of the Pacific as it meets the land. Julia’s latest “Pacific Panoramas” collection highlights the vitality and energy of the California coast. Julia often paints en plein air, and her expertise painting on location is on display in this collection, which deftly depicts the colors, patterns, and light of waves as they hit the beach. Julia has distinct memories of seeing the Pacific Ocean for the first time: “Our family came for a summer when I was in junior high. We stayed at Stanford and every chance we had, we would make a trip to San Francisco, the Sierras or the coast. The first time I saw the ocean I was blown away by the sheer energy and beauty. That love affair with Northern California is represented in these paintings of the Pacific.” Julia started art training as a child in Kentucky, went to Rhode Island School of Design, and studied Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, Julia received a degree in Illustration from San Jose State, where she also studied classical oil painting technique. For the last dozen years, Julia has participated in the West’s most prestigious plein air events, including the Carmel Art Festival, Sonoma Plein Air and the Celebration of Arts at the Grand Canyon. Julia’s paintings have won many awards in national shows and her work has most recently been featured in the American Impressionist On-line show, Pacific Art League’s 101st Anniversary Exhibition and the California Art Club’s “California Dreaming” show. She was featured in the February issue of Western Art Collectormagazine.
