Orion Motors Husband-and-Wife Founders Brian and Heidi Dondlinger invite Milwaukee to come out and meet some of their current owners during a special “Homecoming Weekend” Open House on August 8, 2026, from noon–2 p.m. at Orion Motors' newly expanded shop, 6047 N. Flint Rd. in Milwaukee. The open house will feature light refreshments, camper van walkthroughs, shop tours, and more.
“We like to call our shop a ‘dream factory,’” said Heidi Dondlinger. “So on Saturday we want to inspire families to dream about their next big adventure. We also want folks to be able to chat with some of our current owners and hear firsthand how the Orion 365 can take the stress out of travel prep and hitting the road.”
The stars of the Orion 365 are two lift-away double beds, one fitted at the rear of the van and the second in the front. This design allows the beds to retract during travel and drop down (with the push of a button) from the ceiling at night. Thanks to this innovative, patent-pending design, the Orion 365 comfortably sleeps five while also providing enough space to haul adventure gear, from kayaks and mountain bikes to motorcycles and snowmobiles.
At the heart of Orion’s design philosophy is a simple idea: Make the transitions in real, daily life a little easier, moment by moment. “And, those moments look different for every stage of parenting,” said Brian Dondlinger. “For some, it’s little kids at the end of a long day: getting them from ‘meltdown to lullaby’ in just a minute or two. For others, it’s late nights after tournaments, road trips between activities, or just squeezing in meaningful time together as schedules get busier. We design Orion 365 to reduce friction in these life moments and more.”
Brian and Heidi Dondlinger met as mechanical engineering students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and founded Orion Motors in 2021 after converting a van for their own family.
