ORGAN VIRTUOSO ISABELLE DEMERS IN CONCERT
Internationally famous organ virtuoso Isabelle Demers will close the Sundays at Four concert series on March 26 at 4:00 p.m. at Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second Street, Harrisburg, Pa. Admission is free. Parking is provided by the church in the attached Market Square Parking Garage.
Born in Québec and a graduate of Juilliard, Dr. Isabelle Demers is the newly-appointed Associate Professor of Organ at McGill University in Montréal, Québec.
Isabelle Demers’ recital for the 2010 International Society of Organbuilders-American Institute of Organbuilders convention “left the entire congress in an atmosphere of Demers fever” -- something that continues unabated over ten years later. Possessing “bracing virtuosity” (Chicago Classical Review), she has enraptured listeners worldwide with spell-binding performances.
Dr. Demers is in continual high demand by her colleagues as witnessed by performances for numerous regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the Institute of Organ Builders and International Society of Organbuilders, the Royal Canadian College of Organists, and the Organ Historical Society.
Her acclaimed recordings on the Acis and Pro Organo labels have been heralded as “expressive...profound and searching” (RSCM’s Church Music Quarterly).
Isabelle Demers is represented in North America exclusively by Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists, LLC.
The J. Nedra Schilling Organ is the first new pipe organ installed in Harrisburg in the last 30 years. Built by Orgues Létourneau of St.-Hyacinthe, Québec, in 2021, the organ incorporates pipework of the church’s two previous organs. With four manuals and 83 ranks of pipes, the Schilling organ is one of the largest in the region.
A free-will donation will be accepted. Enter the church directly from the first full level of the garage or at the Event Entrance on Second Street. The building is accessible to all.
