Opening Reception for Sonder: An Exploration of Place at J. Peeler Howell Fine Art
J. Peeler Howell Fine Art is thrilled to announce
Sonder, a group exhibition featuring the work of nine accomplished
artists including the winner of Artly International’s Open Call, Brenda
Ciardiello. Brenda immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. with her parents
as a child. She continued to travel and study around the world including
the U.K., Italy, New York City, and the Middle East. Brenda focuses her
work around her personal experiences of displacement and
transplantation. The exhibition focuses on the profound impact of
"place" on our lives, offering an intimate exploration of the individual
journeys and perspectives of each artist.
The exhibition challenges viewers to reflect on the multifaceted nature
of human existence, inviting them to peer beyond the surface of each
subject, revealing rich, hidden narratives that transcend first
impressions.
Featured artists in the exhibition employ a wide range of artistic media,
from painting and sculpture to photography and mixed media, each
with a unique interpretation of "Sonder." Our featured artists are
Michelle Benoit, Collin Howell, Lars Jerlach, Tom Judd, Tom Motley, Fred
Poisson, Tony Saladino, and Laurie Skantzos. Their works serve as a
testament to the human condition, exploring themes of identity,
solitude, connection, and empathy. It challenges us to embrace the
complexities of the human experience and reminds us that every
individual is a repository of stories, emotions, and depth waiting to be
uncovered.
