Join us in commemorating a pivotal moment in history! To mark the 60th anniversary of St. Augustine's historic segregation protest, The LJD Jewish Family & Community Services invites you to a free open gallery day on Sunday, June 2, at the Frisch Family Holocaust Memorial Gallery in Jacksonville. Experience the "We Could Not Be Silent" exhibit, which recounts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s courageous efforts in aiding the local Black community to desegregate properties in St. Augustine in June 1964. Discover how Dr. King and his allies faced adversity and violence while striving for equality. Join us between 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. for:
-Guided tours of the "We Could Not Be Silent" exhibit
-Exploration of the Holocaust Memorial and a segment of the previous exhibit, "Art in the Holocaust"
-Engaging discussions with knowledgeable guides
-An opportunity to meet Morris Bendit, the memorial's designer and a Holocaust survivor
Don't miss this chance to immerse yourself in history and honor those who fought for justice. We look forward to welcoming you to this meaningful event.
