Of Air and Sea
In this multimedia concert of music for flute and percussion/vibraphone, we’ll enter the depths of the ocean with creatures both giant and small. Projected ocean imagery and recorded sounds combine with live music for an immersive concert experience. We’ll also take to the air with musical excerpts from Robert Maggio’s “Touching Heaven,” a piece inspired by the novella “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” in which the main character escapes the confines of his life through flight and “learns about freedom, forgiveness and the importance of living every day with personal meaning” (Maggio). Music by Robert Maggio, Russell Wharton, Egbert Jan Louwerse and Bonnie Cochran.
