    11/18/2023 01:00 PM 11/18/2023 04:00 PM America/Anguilla NJ Audubon: Fungi Paper-Making Workshop Series This is a 2-day workshop where we will make the paper on November 18 and then use it for collage, sculpture, and/ or greeting cards on December 2. Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher Naturalist and former president of the New Jersey Mycological Association. This is a fun activity that has many decorative uses – making paper from just fungi and water. Only certain species of fungi are used in this process: shelf or bracket fungi that have thick cell walls made of chitin. Chitin (also found as the exoskeleton of insects and other arthropods) is a polysaccharide similar to cellulose which is used to make paper from trees.
