New Bedford Whaling Museum Hosts 28th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival
As one of more than 400 venues across six continents, the Museum joins a worldwide celebration of short films, where audience members play a vital role by voting for Best Film and Best Actor after watching The Final Ten, a curated selection of finalists from across the globe.
This one-night-only screening takes place in the Museum’s Cook Memorial Theater, which offers theater-quality projection for a powerful and immersive experience. Each finalist film is eligible for Oscar qualification, making MANHATTAN SHORT the ultimate stage for celebrating visionary directors and captivating performances.
Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as the program has a strong local following and has historically sold out.
The festival began in 1998, when founder Nicholas Mason gathered 200 people to watch short films on a screen mounted to a truck in New York City’s Little Italy. Now a global phenomenon, MANHATTAN SHORT brings over 100,000 film enthusiasts together for one week each year to champion emerging filmmakers and celebrate the power of storytelling.
