To mark the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, hear Helen Jaccard of Veterans for Peace give an illustrated talk about the work of The Golden Rule Project, founded in 1958 by pacifists who sailed the ketch to the Marshall Islands to protest nuclear weapons testing. The inspirational voyages of the sailboat, which continues afloat, herald new awareness and actions. With the possible use of nuclear weapons a growing threat to humanity, resistance is vital! What is civil society doing to see that we NEVER AGAIN experience the use of nuclear weapons? What other actions can we take?
All are welcome to attend this free event sponsored by the Peninsula/Palo Alto branch of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Please join us at 7 pm on Friday, August 8, Los Altos Library Orchard Room.
