Nathan Tokunaga is a clarinetist and saxophonist whose music blends classic jazz traditions with a fresh voice. The 2026 YoungArts® winner in Jazz Clarinet, he has appeared at venues and festivals including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, Smalls Jazz Club, Lindy Focus, and the Healdsburg Jazz Festival. He has worked with artists including Marcus Shelby, Kyle Athayde, Jon-Erik Kellso, Rossano Sportiello, James Chirillo, Aaron Johnson, Jonathan Stout, Bobby Sanabria, Kurt Elling, Evan Christopher, and many others. Through performance, study, and recording, Nathan continues to refine his artistic voice while remaining rooted in the jazz tradition.

The quartet will present a swing-oriented mainstream jazz repertoire drawn from the Great American Songbook, Duke Ellington, and classic small-group jazz traditions, with occasional influences from traditional jazz and world music.
The Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization presents live music at least 3 times a week at Bird & Beckett Books & Records in San Francisco's Glen Park village: 2 blocks from the Glen Park BART station, Muni lines J, 23, 35, 36, 44, and 52, and on- and off-ramps for I-580.
