The Space Workforce Incubator for Texas (SWIFT) is honored to announce their collaboration with NASA Space Apps Challenge and ACC’s Center for Government and Civic Service (CGCS) on the Austin portion of the world’s largest space and science hackathon, happening Oct. 4 - 5, 2025. The Austin event will take place at the CGCS located at Austin Community College’s (ACC) Rio Grande Campus (1218 West Ave, Austin, TX 78701) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days, where Central Texas students, technologists, scientists, engineers, designers and storytellers of all ages will come together to compete and tackle 18 challenges developed by NASA subject matter experts concerning space exploration, earth science, climate, arts, software, games, hardware and more. Space Apps aims to inspire and encourage creativity and collaboration, while raising worldwide awareness of NASA open data and initiatives.
The Space Apps Challenge will occur alongside the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) chapter at ACC’s fall 2025 “RiverHacks” Hackathon that will adopt the NASA themes as the “RiverHacks” focus, providing opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and community building. SWIFT is acting as collaborator and partner on the event, bridging relationships with the local space ecosystem and providing community support and outreach.
