Muusic at Noon Free Concert 8/9 at the Davis Unitarian Universalist Church - Soprano Savannah Scott
Savannah Scott is a recent graduate from the University of Colorado, Boulder where she earned her M.M. in Vocal Performance. While at CU, Savannah appeared as Madame de la Haltière in Massenet’s Cendrillon, as Annina in La Traviata, covered Mimì in La bohéme, and created the roles of Alyssa Edwards in Drag Race, Julia in Fragments, and Student in Spare Room with the Shag Rug in the CU New Opera Workshop. In 2022, Savannah appeared as Manuelita in Carmen and as a concubine in Rigoletto with Opera Colorado. Savannah debuted the title role in Suor Angelica with La Musica Lirica in Novalfeltria, Italy in the summer of 2022 then reprised the role with Boulder Opera in March of 2024. Savannah holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University where she graduated summa cum laude and University Medalist. While at LSU, Savannah premiered the role of Holocaust Survivor Krystyna Zywulska in the collegiate premiere of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s Out of Darkness: Two Remain which won The American Prize third place for Opera Production—College/University Division for 2021. In July of 2024, Savannah completed a week-long residency in Vail, Colorado singing La bohème with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin of the Metropolitan Opera with BRAVO! Vail.
Robert Vann, tenor, enjoys an active vocal solo career throughout Northern California. Concert performance highlights include a featured artist performance with the Folsom Symphony, solos in Carmina Burana with the Sacramento Ballet, Handel’s Messiah with the Auburn Symphony, The Coffee Cantata with the California Baroque Ensemble, and Bach’s Cantata No. 61 with the Apollo Symphony & Chorus. Robert has been described as possessing “an effortless, beautiful tenor" by Janos Gereben of the San Francisco Classical Voice, and that his “glorious B-flat in ‘Oh is there not one maiden breast’ (Pirates of Penzance) is a true showstopper from a singer that easily packs the vocal goods for the part" by Opera News Magazine. Meg Elison of the Daily Californian wrote that “Robert Vann delivers his lovely vacillations in a clear and gorgeous tenor that fairly throbs with youth and idealism”. A performer with thirty stage roles to his credit, including the Duke in Rigoletto, Nadir in The Pearl Fishers, Alfredo in La Traviata (with Pocket Opera of San Francisco), Count Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Seviglia (with California Opera), and performed most of the tenor roles in the Gilbert & Sullivan canon with Lamplighters Music Theatre and the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento. New music premiers include John Luther Adams' Become Desert with the Seattle Symphony, and the title role in John Beeman's opera, Ishi, with the San Francisco Composer's Orchestra. Mr. Vann can be heard on four commercial operetta recordings released by Lamplighters (Pirates of Penzance, Ruddygore, The Sorcerer, and Princess Ida) and was recently appointed Artistic Director of the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento.
